PARTNER DESCRIPTION ARTEVELDE UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES (AHS)
Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, member of the Ghent University Association, offers a wide variety of study programs in the fields of teacher training, economic and graphic education, healthcare and social work. AHS offers 18 Bachelor programs (two of those are full English degrees); 5 Advanced Bachelor programs; 6 international semester programs and 25 Postgraduate programs. It is a centre of expertise for education, research and development in 5 domains: teacher training, business and management, social work, journalism and media, and health care. In 2020, 15 000 students, 1 400 staff members and strategic partners continue working together in a stimulating environment and develop their talents and competences in a forward looking and internationally oriented university college. AHS is known for its excellent student-oriented services, research, education and coaching, international cooperation and innovation.

ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIENCE OF THE ORGANISATION IN THE AREAS RELEVANT FOR THIS PROJECT

AHS is an institute based on culture of internationalization where creativity, innovative ways of thinking, self-directed learning and entrepreneurship are key values. AHS has an extensive network of international contacts and is an active partner in international networks and projects for educational and research purposes. These partnerships are chosen for their complementarities in the context of student mobility, professionalisation, social services and education. The teacher training department, one of the 5 expertise domains of AHS, has 3 000 students and 300 lecturers and researchers.

KEY PERSONS INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT

Lut De Jaegher
Lut De Jaegher works in the teacher training department for secondary education. She has a master degree in applied economics, started working at Hewlett Packard and is currently working for more than 20 years in the education department for secondary education, subject group computer science, as lecturer „digital and social media literacy“, “computational thinking” and “blended learning. Lut has experience with both international and national projects in diverse areas. She develops innovative teaching methods and trains students and teachers. Her expertise lies in projects related to innovative online and F2F learning with blended learning and flipping the classroom, digital literacy, mis- and disinformation awareness, communication strategies and intercultural communication. She’s presenter at international congresses as ATEE (Europe) and NAPDS (United States), ILITE (Vietnam) and involved in consultancy concerning media literacy and computational thinking for the Life Long Learning department of AHS.

Lester Impens
Lester Impens works in the teacher training department for secondary education. He has a bachelor's degree in ICT and also in teaching physics and mathematics for secondary education. In the last year Lester has focused on "learner experience design" for his university, next to his teaching assignment. He is specialised in ICT for teachers and creating a great learner experience for students who follow a "blended" course. As of this year he is also studying pedagogical sciences with specialisation in educational sciences.
